Successful Mitigation of Category 3 Black Water


Course Objectives


  1. An overview of Category 3 Black Water damage and the related customer service issues involved will be presented. The continuing damaging effects when not mitigated quickly will be discussed. Methods required to reduce claim loss settlement costs will be discussed.
  2. The licensee should be able to describe the effects of Category 3 Black Water damage to structures and understand the health, safety, and hazard issues involved relevant to the policyholder, building occupants, insurance personnel, and mitigation/remediation technicians.
  3. The licensee should be able to explain the necessity and protocol for thorough mitigation and remediation processes to return the structure and contents (when possible) back to pre-loss condition.
  4. As a result of the information learned in this course, the licensee should be able to improve his/her communication with the policyholder and contractor regarding Category 3 Black Water mitigation and remediation methods and procedures. This should result in improved customer service and reduced claim loss settlement costs.
